Aquarius Equity frequently asked questions

Aquarius Equity Partners is a specialised venture investment team, which was founded in 2005. Aquarius identifies, invests and manages emerging life science businesses.

Life sciences include biotechnology, therapeutics, speciality pharma and medical devices. These opportunities are sourced from our science partner network of research institutions, innovation centres and Universities as well as corporate spin out teams.

We provide capital investment for technology development during the company’s growth phase. We are comfortable in taking a business from its absolute inception, setting up a company and making further capital investments through its life to deliver significant capital growth.

As we take an active role in our investments we predominantly invest in opportunities based in the UK.

We always lead investments and are often the sole investor. We always take a seat on the board of the company and forge a strong relationship with the founders and management team, doing whatever it takes to help them develop and deliver value.

We typically invest between £3m and £7m. The investment is always spread over a number of years and based on key technical and commercial milestones agreed prior to investment with the company.  This retains focus on value inflection and ensures robust financial control and governance.

We source the majority of our deal flow through existing networks in research institutions and industry, but are happy for ambitious founders to contact us directly to discuss their plans.
